A good therapy is NOT an intellectual exercise…it’s an emotional one. Research shows the most important part of therapy is the relationship. Had you been able stay with one therapist you may have been able to work through the need to impress and, with trust built and a profound sense of safety, tolerate the darkness long enough to touch and heal the wounds. I’m glad mindfulness is helpful. I also have a meditation practice. But it is very different than therapy.
